Anton Morozov: Russia will not make any concessions in terms of the Kuril Islands

Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Anton Morozov:

“It is clear that Russia will not make any concessions in the Kuril plan. But this does not cancel the talk of investment and joint economic projects on the islands. That is, the Russian Foreign Ministry will hold regular talks on the Kuril Islands with colleagues from Japan, but we proceed from the fact that the Kuril Islands are the territory of exclusive jurisdiction of the Russian Federation, and joint economic activity is possible only in the interests of our country and the people who live there, ”said in a comment to the Federal News Agency, a member of the Duma committee on international affairs. Anton Morozov suggested that Russia and Japan will discuss specific investment projects during consultations on the Kuril Islands. “Perhaps it will be a question of joint economic activities on the use of natural resources, including fish. Maybe a Russian-Japanese fish processing company will appear. Here, in principle, there are many options, I did not delve deeply into this topic, ”Anton Morozov added.
