Anton Morozov, a member of the State Duma’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, commented on the words of former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneisl in an interview with RT, who called on NATO to stop antagonizing Russia.
Morozov recalled that initially the North Atlantic Alliance was created in opposition to the Soviet Union and the military bloc of the countries of the socialist camp.
“Now Americans are using NATO mainly to maintain their military presence in Europe and, accordingly, to control the policies of European states. Unfortunately, we observe that often the USA is not guided by the interests of the European states themselves, ”the deputy noted.
Commenting on Kneisl’s statement that it is necessary to stop “antagonizing and misrepresenting” Russia, the parliamentarian added that most politicians understand that the Russian “threat” is fictitious.
“We do not impose our development path on anyone in Europe … We build our relations exclusively on a good-neighborly, mutually beneficial basis,” Morozov concluded.
