“The Munich Security Conference was a testament to the expansion of cooperation between Russia and other participants in international cooperation, despite attempts by several countries to legitimize pressure and protectionism in world politics. Sanctions and blackmail have not brought the desired result to their authors for a long time, while negatively affecting the nature of international relations in general and creating problems in the collective security system. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma committee on international affairs, Sergei Zheleznyak, following the results of the summit in Munich.
The politician emphasized: “Without Russia, there can be no dialogue, there can be no solution to the key problems facing the world. This is understood by Western partners, which was demonstrated, among other things, by the position of French President Emmanuel Macron. Despite the obvious differences between Russia and the West represented by France on the issue of the so-called interference in the elections, the leader of the Fifth Republic laid rather clear accents, outlined the lack of alternative interaction with our country and suggested expanding the dialogue with Russia, including dialogue with NATO. ”
Touching upon the topic of the conflict in the Donbass, which was not overlooked at the Conference, the parliamentarian noted: “It is obvious that the emphasis of Western countries on the need to comply with the requirements of the Minsk agreements, as stated by the Western partners at the Conference, is supported in Russia. At the same time, we have no doubt that these agreements should be implemented precisely by Kiev, which still continues to ignore its obligations. The new Norman summit will be relevant only when the leadership of Ukraine begins to implement the Minsk agreements, first of all, it will sit down at the negotiating table with representatives of the Donbass. Continuing to demand from Russia the fulfillment of the obligations that lie on the parties to the intra-Ukrainian conflict is a dead end. ”
“The explicit attitude of the American participants in the Conference against the PRC policy can hardly be called a new trend, however, anti-Chinese rhetoric has proved to be a link even for representatives of different political camps – a supporter of Trump Pompeo and the leader of the Democrats in the Pelosi Congress. Against the backdrop of problems with coronavirus and the economy suffering from this situation, pressure on China looks especially aggressive, ”the deputy added.
