Sergey Zheleznyak: “Charges against Kirill Firsov must be proved”

“The allegations of fraud in attracting buyers and aiding in the sale of fake or genuine authentication data that the US authorities are pushing against Russian citizen Kirill Firsov should be clearly and reasonably proven. The American side must fully respect the rights of a citizen of Russia. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma committee on international affairs, Sergei Zheleznyak.

He recalled: “The unsubstantiated accusations and frauds on which American law enforcers are accustomed to rely on Russians have unfortunately already become the norm. Not so long ago, thanks to the tremendous efforts of the public and the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Butina, who was accused of violating the law on foreign agents in the United States, was released from an American prison. We also know how biased Russian citizens are in the hands of the FBI and the CIA.

It should be emphasized that Russia has a very negative attitude to violations of the law in the field of information technology, for which we have criminal penalties. In the case of a Russian citizen Firsov, who was under suspicion of the US authorities, we are obliged to take all necessary measures to prevent violation of the rights of our compatriot and to obtain support and protection of the interests of Kirill Firsov through the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights.

Obviously, one should seek extradition of the Russian to his homeland for further investigation and adoption of appropriate measures.”
