Member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Elena Panina commented on the information that appeared on the intention of the US Senate to investigate the causes of the appearance and spread of coronavirus.
In her Telegram channel, the deputy noted that the main task of such a commission would be the unilateral appointment of those responsible.
The MP, as an example of what conclusions senators can come to, cited an article in the New York Times reporting that American science and healthcare allegedly collapsed in the Russian media as directed by President Vladimir Putin.
“The causes of the pandemic should indeed be the subject of an investigation, but an objective and impartial investigation, best of all, under the auspices of the UN,” wrote Elena Panina.
The member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs considers it necessary to create a commission, which would include scientists and specialists of investigative structures. The deputy believes that the main thing in this investigation is that it does not become the prerogative of any one country. Panina believes that this would lead to bias and politicization of conclusions.
Earlier, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky said that US leader Donald Trump is politicizing the situation with the coronavirus pandemic and is trying to shift the responsibility for problems in the American healthcare system to external players.
