Dmitry Novikov: Russia will not agree to participate in anti-Chinese projects

Russia, most likely, will not agree to participate in international anti-Chinese events, said Dmitry Novikov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, commenting on the G-7 summit.

This year the event was supposed to be held in America on June 10-12, but US President Donald Trump proposed to postpone the G7 rally in the fall and increase the number of participants.

Meanwhile, according to Dmitry Novikov, Russia is aimed at dialogue on key global issues with all partners, and this should be reflected in the framework of the G7. The deputy’s words are quoted by Interfax.

“Most likely, Russia will not agree to participate in some large-scale projects that have at least a shade of anti-Chinese orientation. I think this is absolutely the right position, ”says Dmitry Novikov.

The State Duma deputy added that the propaganda campaign that the head of the White House is building is based on the fact that China is the culprit of the coronavirus pandemic, and this is an occasion for Washington to “try to do without China” at the summit. However, “this idea is initially vicious,” the parliamentarian is sure.

“The position of Russia, I think, should be very simple – the dialogue should be conducted with everyone and on all key issues,” the deputy head of the committee noted.

According to Dmitry Novikov, major global problems are better solved through negotiations “than through confrontation, political sanctions or, God forbid, military.”

“While negotiations are ongoing, most often the guns are silent,” the parliamentarian concluded.

On Sunday, the media circulated a statement by Donald Trump about postponing the summit. The American leader explained the decision by saying that he “does not feel that the G7 appropriately represents what is happening in the world,” as it is “a very outdated group of countries.” Trump added that he intends to invite four more countries to the summit – Russia, Australia, India and South Korea – and thereby turn it into G11. In addition, the White House Director of Strategic Communications, Alyssa Farah, said the summit in such an expanded format would discuss the “future of China.”

Earlier, the head of the Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky called statements that the Chinese authorities deliberately concealed data on a new coronavirus politicized. The PRC, according to the parliamentarian, has openly cooperated and continues to cooperate with the international community. At the same time, all the accusations against Beijing are aimed at removing responsibility for problems in the healthcare system of Western countries, in particular in the USA, Slutsky believes.
