“The painful decision to adopt the European budget has fixed the only obvious fact – the European Union exists. The ostentatious joy of European politicians that, despite deep disagreements, they managed to agree and adopt a common budget, is marred by the absence of a new development model, which is needed today against the backdrop of the global economic downturn. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.
“In the agreed EU budget, in which out of 750 billion euros is allocated to help countries from losses during a pandemic and economic recession, there is an obvious trend – the credit part is growing, while gratuitous aid to countries is decreasing. In addition, the Baltic countries and Poland have already lost the usual financial assistance from next year, which they clearly counted on. And the more these countries lose the support of the EU, the stronger the attraction of these countries to the United States will grow, which always take advantage of internal contradictions in the European Union for the opportunity to influence policy in Europe.
The contradictions of the North and South of Europe also persist, which clearly cannot fully come to terms with the redistribution of the European budget. In the current situation, the UK has for the first time been left on the sidelines, which is now watching as a spectator the budget battles among the former EU partners ”.
“Russia is interested in the stability and well-being of our largest trading partner, the EU countries. Despite the inertial effect of the sanctions, Russia continues economic cooperation with the countries of the region. Europe also understands very well that there is no alternative to the development of trade and economic ties with our country and more and more often declare the need to abandon the extremely unprofitable, especially in a crisis, the sanctions regime, ”the politician emphasized.
