US President Donald Trump reaffirmed Russia’s desire to maintain peace and stability. As a REGNUM correspondent reports on August 12, this was stated by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak (United Russia), commenting on the statement of the American leader about a “pact on nuclear weapons.”
“Mr. Trump, unwittingly, confirmed that Russia is interested in maintaining peace and stability,” Zheleznyak said.
He recalled that Russia has repeatedly stated the need to extend the START-3 Treaty, which is important to preserve on the terms previously reached and agreed by the parties.
“Our country, as a responsible participant in international relations, insists on preserving the previously adopted provisions of the Treaty, the change of which is advisable to discuss only after the mutual extension of the existing agreement,” the parliamentarian said.
US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Russia “really wants” to conclude a “pact on nuclear weapons” with the United States.
