Sergey Zheleznyak noted the success of diplomacy in the refusal of the United States from China’s participation in START-3

The State Duma called the US refusal to involve China in negotiations on nuclear arms control as a positive step, a REGNUM correspondent reports on August 21.

“This step by Washington is positive and is a success of Russian diplomacy. At the same time, one should not forget about the impulsiveness and inconsistency of the American partners, who can change the negotiation vector at any moment, “said Sergei Zheleznyak (United Russia), a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Russia continues to insist on the need to extend the START-3 Treaty, which is important to preserve on the terms previously reached and agreed by the parties, the parliamentarian noted.

“Russia, as a responsible participant in international relations, is convinced that it is advisable to discuss changes in the existing provisions of the treaty only after the mutual extension of the existing agreement,” the deputy said.

The United States has abandoned its demand for the mandatory inclusion of China in negotiations with Russia on nuclear arms control, reports Axios, citing the US President’s Special Representative for Arms Control Marshall Billingsley.
