European officials run the risk of getting confused about the reasons for sanctions restrictions against Russia, says Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.
Earlier, a source of RIA Novosti in the EU said that the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States (COREPER) at its meeting on Monday, September 28, may consider agreeing a new list within the framework of the current individual sanctions against Russia for Ukraine.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, the deputy noted that European officials “risk getting entangled in the reasons for sanctions restrictions directed against Russia.”
“For Crimea, for Ukraine, for Belarus, for doping, for Navalny, and this list is endless – as far as the European officials have enough imagination,” Panina said.
According to the politician, the real reason for the sanctions is the loss of geopolitical independence by Europe and the transition of the EU to total control of the Euro-Atlantic lobby.
“The European bureaucracy is methodically destroying everything that was done in the Russian direction by Schroeder, Chirac, Berlusconi,” the deputy said.
