The accusations against Russia and Iran of attempting to interfere in the American elections already look comical, it is possible that the constantly expanding list of countries interfering in this process will soon be replenished with states that have recently appeared on the world map, Elena Panin.
US national intelligence claims that data on voter registration fell into the hands of Iran and the Russian Federation. According to the department, this data can be used by foreign persons to provide voters with information that they hope will create doubt, wreak havoc and undermine their confidence in the American elections.
“The statement causes a double reaction. On the one hand, it is simply comical. The list of countries” interfering in elections “is constantly expanding, including Iran. It is possible that tomorrow we will see North Korea in it, and the day after tomorrow – South Sudan and East Timor, which have only recently appeared on the map, ”Panina said.
As the MP noted, the matter, apparently, goes to the fact that absolutely any outcome of the presidential elections in the United States will be declared by the opposing sides as a result of foreign manipulations and external interference, and, naturally, will not arouse the confidence of a significant part of US citizens.
“Thus, the American elites themselves, without anyone’s help, are destroying democratic institutions in their own country,” Panina stated.
Earlier, Iran, in response to Washington’s accusations, stated that it was not interested in interfering in the US presidential elections and had no preferences regarding their results, spokesman for the Iranian Permanent Mission to the UN Alireza Miryusefi made such a statement to ABC News.
