Elena Panina called the increase in Russophobia in the United States after the elections a tradition

There is a constructive agenda in Russian-American relations related to the search for solutions to global problems and limiting the growth of weapons, the position of the Russian Federation is to develop them, despite the existing disagreements, Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told RIA Novosti, commenting on the electoral vote in USA.

According to the results of the electoral vote on Monday, Democrat Joe Biden received 306 votes against 232 from the Republican, the current head of the White House, Donald Trump, who does not recognize the election results. The results of the electoral vote must be approved by Congress on January 6. On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Biden, congratulating him on his victory in the US presidential election and expressing his readiness for interaction and contacts.

According to the deputy, the coming to power of Biden has become a fait accompli, as evidenced by the congratulations of the President of the Russian Federation received by the new American leader.

“There is a constructive agenda in Russian-American relations related to the search for solutions to global problems and limiting the growth of arms. Our country’s position is to develop them, despite the existing differences,” Panina noted.

At the same time, according to the politician, there are influential forces in the world, “striving not to resume cooperation, but to intensify confrontation between the United States and Russia.”

“The intensification of anti-Russian propaganda immediately after the end of the presidential elections in the United States is already becoming a tradition. The sharper the conflicts in American society, the more controversy the victory of one candidate or another causes, the more Russophobia is heated up, the desire to mold Russia into an” enemy image, “Panina noted.

The parliamentarian added that according to all ideas about America as “the standard of freedom and democracy,” the 2020 elections showed an acute crisis of democratic institutions in the United States.
