The United States, introducing new sanctions against a number of Russian industrial enterprises, cannot get rid of the maniacal idea of ”tearing to shreds” the Russian economy, especially its high-tech segment, Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told RIA Novosti.
The US Department of Commerce has published a list of 103 companies from Russia and China associated with the military and will be subject to export restrictions. The list includes the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a special flight unit “Russia”, large enterprises of the aviation, space and other industries.
According to Panina, the US sanctions destroy the basis for peaceful Russian-American cooperation in space, which began in the 1970s, during detente and the Apollo-Soyuz flight.
“There is every reason to believe that these sanctions will harm the United States itself, the development of science and astronautics. Now American sanctions against the Russian Federation are introduced almost every month. She stressed that such restrictions are a serious challenge that “forces” Russia to accelerate the implementation of import substitution programs, especially in the field of electronics, software products, and also strengthen cooperation with non-Western partners, primarily with the BRICS and SCO countries.
