Elena Panina found Zelensky’s statements more hostile than Poroshenko’s

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has gone too far in his anti-Russian statements; they should not be treated as empty rhetoric, says Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Zelensky earlier in an interview with Focus said that a hypothetical Russian attack from Crimea would lead to a big war, specifying that it would be a “terrible situation.” “Let’s hope that this is impossible – otherwise there will be a big war,” for which “everyone will be mobilized – both men and women,” he said.

According to Panina, Zelensky’s statements on Russian topics are becoming increasingly inadequate.

“This is reminiscent of the calls that were heard in Germany in 1945 for total war, for the creation of Volkssturm formations, where everyone was driven. In terms of the degree of hostility of his statements, Zelensky has already overtaken (ex-President of Ukraine Petro – ed.) Poroshenko and is approaching (ex-speaker We are glad to Alexander – ed.) Turchinov, who threatened with an atomic bomb, “the parliamentarian said.

According to Panina, the President of Ukraine, making such statements, is guided by a cynical calculation.

“On the one hand, with his statements about an“ attack from Crimea, ”he is trying to justify the water blockade of the peninsula and threats from his subordinates to punish or take revenge on foreign firms that may take part in the design of desalination plants. On the other hand, Zelensky is apparently trying to send signal to the team of (US President-elect Joe – ed.) Biden, closely associated with Poroshenko, wants to convince her that he can be even more anti-Russian than his odious rival, wants to please the new American authorities, “Panina said.

She stressed that this situation is alarming and should not be treated only as empty rhetoric.

“Words are always followed by deeds, and Zelensky has gone too far in his anti-Russian improvisations,” the deputy added.
